Matt Payne has claimed his first Bathurst 1000 win, combining with Supercars legend Garth Tander to triumph.
Matt Payne and Garth Tander have won the Bathurst 1000 after prevailing in an enthralling wet-weather race.
James Golding crossed the finish line first, but couldn't claim victory due to a five-second penalty for colliding with Cooper Murray at Griffin's Bend.
Payne took the lead with four laps remaining and held on to claim the title, with co-driver Tander winning his sixth title.
"It's absolutely insane," Payne told Fox Sports. "When I got back in the car, it felt like forever. We kept getting safety cars, and it kept stalling our race.
