A groundbreaking study at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is changing the face of kidney cancer treatment.
Doctors say a once-experimental drug combination is now the gold standard for patients nationwide.
"Originally, they said get your affairs in order, and when someone tells you that, it's a really difficult thing to hear,"
said Bob Kinkead, a Nashville talent agent, who was given just four months to live. Kinkead initially dismissed his symptoms as hemorrhoids.
"I felt a lot of pain in my back, and I noticed that there was more blood in my stool, and that was a sign that there's something going on here,"
he said.
