Christchurch motorsport star Chris White, the Rookie winner in the 2024-2025 Bridgestone GR86 Championship, made a notable debut at Bathurst, supporting the Bathurst 1000.
White secured his drive in the third round of the 2025 Toyota Australia GR Cup due to his rookie successes in New Zealand. He aimed to make steady progress throughout the weekend's practice sessions, qualifying, and three races.
Although a significant crash in the first race hindered his chances of advancing from 26th on the grid, White showed improvement in the subsequent races. He moved up to 22nd in the second race and further solidified his position with a 14th-place finish in the final race on Sunday.
We had set out to find the pace to be in or just outside the top ten within the three races, so in the end getting to 14th with only two races was pretty satisfying.
Author's summary: Chris White made a successful Bathurst debut.
