Despite a reported 27% drop in overdose deaths in most states in 2024, Nevada continues to experience an uptick in overdoses, with 802 drug overdoses in Clark County last year, over 400 of which were attributed to fentanyl.
The synthetic opioid remains the leading cause of fatal overdoses in the area, with fentanyl-involved deaths surging 699.8% in the last six years, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.
While most states in the U.S. saw a near 27% drop in overdose deaths in 2024, Nevada remained one of the top states still experiencing an uptick.
