Dropping thermometer sets records in multiple Vancouver Island towns

Temperature Records Shattered in Vancouver Island Towns

Multiple towns in Vancouver Island, British Columbia, have set new temperature records, according to Environment Canada.

Qualicum Beach set a new record low of -1 C on October 14, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992. Records have been kept in the area since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.

Cold temperature records were also set in 22 other communities across B.C., including Bella Bella, Blue River, and Whistler.

In contrast, Fort Nelson set a new warm temperature record of 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
