In Greece, N.Y., autumn is marked by colorful foliage, cool air, and for many families, an annual visit to the iconic teepee at Green Acre Farm and Nursery.
The farm, situated on Latta Road in North Greece, was once an apple farm, but it was sold to a local developer. As a result, Green Acre now buys and grows many of its own plants.
“My parents started the business in 1978,” said Jan Edmond-Hassett, the owner of Green Acre. “My dad always wanted a teepee and he just loved the look of it. It’s something that people can come and look forward to every fall. It’s kind of iconic.”
Despite changes in land ownership, the teepee tradition remains a staple of the season, with families visiting each year to capture memories in front of the structure.
