Canvas, the online platform used by Tufts University, shut down early Monday morning due to an ongoing failure of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Piazza, a forum for out-of-class questions between students and professors, is also currently out of service. Canvas is used to store course information for almost all classes at Tufts, where students submit assignments, complete online assessments, and access study materials.
We are currently waiting for full recovery due to an ongoing AWS incident.
The duration and impact of the shutdown on classroom operations are currently unknown. According to Samantha Earp, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, Tufts Technology Services staff are monitoring AWS status updates and the affected software providers.
