Man with semi-automatic rifle arrested after threatening to ‘shoot up’ Atlanta airport, police say

A 49-year-old man, Billy Joe Cagle, was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after threatening to "shoot up" the airport, according to Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum.

Cartersville police informed the Atlanta Police Department of the threat at around 9:40 a.m. after Cagle's family reported that he was heading to the airport and had made threatening statements.

He was inside the airport initially to scope it out, said Schierbaum.
