A New Partnership to Support People with Brain Injuries
Headway Devon, a local charity based in Exeter, specializes in helping individuals rehabilitate from head injuries.
Unfortunately, after brain injury, people are often discharged home to a family network without wider support. As one might experience, "you've spent months in hospital, in ICU, in rehabilitation with a team of clinicians around you and suddenly you're all alone."
- You may not understand that you've had a brain injury.
- You might be at the beginning of a legal fight for compensation for your brain injury and have no idea how to go about that.
- You're still recovering, still regaining skills, still learning how to live with your brain injury.
Every week, Headway Devon works alongside around 100 people, but there are more who go home alone and have never heard of them.
