The Emory Wheel, an independent student-run newspaper of Emory University since 1919, reports that a widespread Amazon Web Services (AWS) server error caused a disruption to the schoolwide Canvas platform.
The outage, which lasted for nearly 15 hours, began around 3:00 a.m. and ended around 6:00 p.m., blocking students from accessing assignments and class materials.
"I have assignments due tomorrow that I had planned out time in my schedule to do today, but because they're on Canvas and Canvas isn't working, I can't do them,"
Anahata McCallum-Moore (27Ox) expressed frustration about the outage, highlighting its impact on her headspace and ability to manage assignments. Many students shared similar concerns, feeling stressed about not being able to complete their work.
