Phil Finds Joy in Cafe Venture at Kennaugh's
After a helicopter accident forced him into early retirement, Phil Kennaugh found a new sense of purpose in reviving a vacant cafe at Kennaugh's Garden Centre.
Phil had previously managed O'Connors in Echuca, working long hours, and struggled to adjust to being idle after his accident. As he described,
"I was just going half-crazy at home,"he found it difficult to accept the change.
- Phil's carer, Narelle Woodgate, was looking for a peaceful venue for independent support workers to bring their clients to.
- Kennaugh's Garden Centre, owned by Phil's brother Gavan, had a vacant cafe space since the COVID-19 shutdown.
Phil suggested reviving the cafe space for Ms Woodgate's clients, an idea she welcomed enthusiastically.
