Police Captain Killed, Sergeant Wounded in Shootout
A police captain from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 7 was killed, while a sergeant was injured, during a shootout with three suspects in Cebu City.
The incident occurred in Sitio Balaw, Barangay Sudlon 2, at around 6 p.m. during a police surveillance operation.
- The fallen officer was identified as Police Captain Joel Deiparine.
- The injured officer was Police Executive Master Sergeant Artchel Tero.
Both Deiparine and Tero were assigned to the CIDG Regional Field Unit 7.
Initial investigation showed that Deiparine and Tero were conducting surveillance on a certain Jun Manto, the subject of their Oplan "Paglalansag Omega", before the incident.
