The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged Professor Joash Amupitan, nominee for chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to prioritise prosecution of electoral offences if confirmed.

This call was made in a letter dated 11 October 2025, signed by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, emphasizing the need to address electoral offences such as violence, bribery, vote-buying, conspiracy, and undue influence during elections since 2015.
