Phishing Scam Targets Auburn Students
October is cybersecurity awareness month, and a recent phishing scam has highlighted the importance of identifying and reporting scams to protect oneself and others.
A phishing attempt was sent to hundreds of Auburn students, including student Sophia Weber, in early October. The email had the subject "AUBURN IT SUPPORT ACTION REQUIRED" and claimed that her Auburn account would be terminated.
Kindly scan the QR code below to cancel the termination process.
The email included a QR code that linked to a form where Weber was asked to enter sensitive information, such as her password and student ID number.
Auburn University's Office of Information Technology Cybersecurity Center is likely to provide guidance on how to identify and report such scams.
