Who Are You Review: Keith Moon’s Swan Song Revisited
The Who's eighth album, and drummer Keith Moon's last, is now available in two, four, and seven-disc editions.
Keith Moon's death, three weeks after the album's release, added a tragic note to The Who's eighth album. Pete Townshend had threatened to sack Moon during the sessions due to his booze-addled antics, which had begun to eclipse his ability to perform (see MOJO 384).
Contemporary reviews criticized the guitarist's use of synthesizers, but on a record concerned with slipping into irrelevance, it's one of the most interesting elements, elevating what might have been stodgier rockers.
The 2025 reissue of Who Are You is set to be released on October 31 on Universal.
