Resignation and Special Election
Marcus Wiedower, first sworn into office in 2019, announced his resignation from the Georgia General Assembly to focus on his role at Hillpointe, a real estate development firm.
His immediate resignation from House District 121 triggers a special election to be held in December.
- Democrat Eric Gisler is currently running for the House seat in 2026 and may choose to run in the special election.
- This is not the first special election in recent history, following the resignations of Rep. Chuck Williams and Regina Quick in 2017.
In 2017, Democrats Jonathan Wallace and Deborah Gonzalez won the House seats representing Oconee County.
