Deforestation and Soil Dumping in City Forests Condemned
The Shillong Times reports that Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) leader Angela Rangad has expressed serious concern over alleged illegal activities in the Lumparing–Kynjat Phutbol–Madan Laban area.
Rangad stated that these activities are causing extensive destruction to the local forest ecosystem, citing deforestation and unchecked soil dumping as major issues.
It was “very disturbing” to witness the ongoing deforestation and unchecked soil dumping in the area over the past several months and years.
Rangad addressed a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, RM Kurbah, to express her concerns.
