The city of Konin has officially started operations of its geothermal heating facility, marking the tenth operational geothermal heating plant in Poland.
Located in Pociejewo, the plant is operated by the municipal heating company MPEC Konin. It has an installed capacity of 8 MW, currently operating at 2 MW.
The construction was completed about a year ago, with initial plans to start operations during the 2024-2025 heating season. The project received funding from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW), totaling PLN 26 million, and a loan of PLN 18 million. The local government contributed PLN 4 million to the PLN 67 million investment.
