Violent Land Dispute in Syokimau Turns Deadly
A man was shot dead and two others injured in a violent land dispute in Syokimau's Viraj Estate, Machakos County.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred during a confrontation between two parties over a contested piece of land.
An unidentified man is seen firing indiscriminately as he is pursued by residents, resulting in the death of Samuel Muiruri Maina, who was struck by a bullet in the left side of his chest.
A witness, Amos Michael, recalled:
I found they had surrounded him outside a car. Suddenly he drew a gun and started shooting in the air.
The shooter was allegedly in the company of a man identified as Farah, who owns the disputed property. Enraged residents later vandalized and set ablaze the vehicle used by the two men.
Witnesses claim that Farah had invited Muiruri to discuss a business deal, which ended in tragedy.
