Rising Up Prepares for Increased Demand Amid Government Shutdown

As the federal government shutdown enters its fourth week, Morgan County families face uncertainty over November SNAP benefits. Rising Up Food Pantry in Fort Morgan is bracing for increased demand.

The pantry, which serves all of Morgan County, currently supports around 1,200 individuals and 500 families each month. This number is growing, with 5-10 new families registering each week.

“Times can be scary,” said Pam Hernandez, founder and executive director of Rising Up. “It’s important to remember we’re part of a caring community. We’re here to support one another.”
