A collection of Suzhou prints, assembled by Christer von der Burg, has been acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Each museum purchased over 100 prints, featuring cityscapes, women, birds, and flowers, showcasing a blend of Chinese and European artistic traditions.

Many Suzhou prints were lost during China's Cultural Revolution, but some were preserved in European and Japanese collections.

Woodblock printing with colour was pioneered in China and reached its zenith in 18th-century Suzhou.
