A historic preservation and tourism development project is underway in Taylor County, thanks to a federal grant earned by Backroads of Appalachia.
Backroads of Appalachia received a $3.36 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to transform the historic Evans Family Farmhouse into a regional hub for motorsports tourism and the Appalachian Overland Triangle project.
Senator Jay Taylor, R-Taylor, expressed concerns about the current state of highways, stating that they are not ready for the traffic that the Evans Family Farmhouse will bring.
The intersection of Route 50 and Route 250 is not prepared.
Taylor urged state Transportation Secretary Todd Rumbaugh to make safety improvements at the dangerous intersection before tourists arrive in the area.
