Wisconsin Senator Urges Passage of Medical Marijuana Bill
State Senator Patrick Testin (R) published an op-ed titled "Why I’m trying to legalize medical marijuana", explaining his personal motivation behind new legislation.
Testin's motivation stems from his grandfather's battle with cancer in the 1990s, which shaped his view of medical marijuana.
"I can remember, with vivid detail, the exact moment I knew I wanted to pursue a life of public service. Back in the 1990s, my grandfather, who was my role model, was diagnosed with lung cancer, which eventually metastasized to bone cancer. My grandfather was a big guy, but the chemotherapy treatments he went through took a tremendous toll on his body."
Senator Testin's bill aims to make Wisconsin the 41st state to legalize medical cannabis.
