Tasmanian Madeleine Habib Released from Israeli Prison

Madeleine Habib, a Tasmanian woman, has been released from an Israeli prison after spending four days in detention for attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.

Habib was arrested on October 8 when Israeli forces intercepted her ship, The Conscience, in international waters 120 nautical miles off Gaza. The vessel was carrying 100 volunteers, including doctors and nurses, as well as medical supplies and food aid worth over $110,000.

She was detained at Ketziot Prison, with Israeli authorities stating she would remain there "indefinitely" unless she signed a waiver admitting to attempting to break Israel's naval blockade.

Habib's release came as a ceasefire deal brokered by US President Donald Trump took effect, and she is now on her way home.

Her release occurred on Sunday morning Israel time, and she was taken to the Jordan border with other activists from the Freedom Flotilla.
