Vacherot initially entered the tournament as an alternate player, eventually earning a spot in the main draw for the first time in his career.
He made! history by becoming the fifth man to win his first ATP title in a Masters 1000 event, following in the footsteps of Jakub Mensik, who won the Miami Open earlier this year after beating Novak Djokovic.
Notably, Vacherot also defeated Djokovic in the semifinals, the 24-time Grand Slam champion being the fifth-seeded player he beat en route to his successful run.
