The Leiden Collection, owned by Thomas S. Kaplan and his wife Daphne Recanati Kaplan, will part with one of its earliest acquisitions, "Young Lion Resting", a drawing by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, at Sotheby's in February.
The drawing, created around 1638-42, is estimated to be worth $15m-$20m. The Kaplans acquired the piece in 2005 through private New York dealers John and Paul Herring.
The Leiden Collection comprises around 220 works of 17th-century Dutch art, amassed over the past two decades.
No comment from the owners.
Auction will take place on 4 February 2026, in New York.
