A powerful coastal storm is expected to hit the Philadelphia region, bringing heavy rains and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
New Jersey has declared a state of emergency, effective 11 p.m. Saturday, due to the storm's potential impact.
“It’s going to be bad,” said Paul Fitzsimmons, a lead meteorologist. “It’s going to be a nasty, stormy ‘nor’easter’ ... lasting right into Monday.”
The weather service has issued advisories and watches, including the potential for "major" flooding along the Jersey coast.
