Texas Turns Its Sprawling State Police Force Into Immigration Agents for Trump

Texas Expands Immigration Enforcement

Texas has signed agreements with around 50 law enforcement agencies to act as immigration agents, primarily in rural county sheriff's offices.

The Texas National Guard and the Texas Attorney General's Office have also joined the program, with the AG's office making 35 arrests across the state.

"We've heard reports from around the state already about local police working with ICE and kind of conducting these kinds of racial profiling stops where they see brown people driving a work van, and they'll pull them over on a pretext, and then just immediately call ICE,"

said Danny Woodward, a policy attorney at the Texas Civil Rights Project, highlighting concerns over rights violations and racial profiling.

Citizens, including children, may be subjected to brutal traffic stops and enforcement.
