One Battle After Another in the Context of the Present Day

One Battle After Another in the Context of the Present Day

I was prompted to watch One Battle After Another after listening to a New York Times interview with Sean Penn.

Unlike my friend Gregory Maskarinec, I still listen to Ezra Klein podcasts, where I heard the David Marchese interview with Penn. He stated that his performance was

studied and intentional
, unlike some of his previous roles.

I'm not familiar with Penn's other work, often thinking of him as Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). His performance in Lockjaw is a comic send-up of a white supremacist military man.

Author's summary: Watching One Battle After Another after Sean Penn's interview.
