Nawat Itsaragrisil, the organiser of Miss Universe Thailand, issued a tearful apology following criticism for allegedly disrespectful remarks toward Mexico’s contestant, Fatima Bosch.
During a livestreamed event, Nawat was reported to have called Fatima Bosch a "dumbhead" for failing to adhere to promotional guidelines. This comment caused Bosch and several other contestants, including the reigning Miss Universe, to leave the event in protest.
"The Miss Universe Organization condemned his conduct as ‘public aggression.’"
“He was misheard, and I sincerely apologize to all contestants and viewers,” said Nawat Itsaragrisil.
This incident highlights the tensions in beauty pageant events and the importance of respectful communication between organisers and contestants.
