Aimee Lou Wood expressed her admiration for Angelina Jolie during the filming of their upcoming movie Anxious People. Wood highlighted Jolie's silent support and grounded presence despite her immense fame.
The film, based on Fredrik Backman’s novel, features Wood in a pivotal role. During an intense emotional scene, Wood felt overwhelmed by multiple crew members giving conflicting directions. She asserted herself by requesting “one direction, one voice, and no hand movements” in her view. Jolie silently acknowledged Wood’s request with a thumbs up, which gave her confidence.
“I’ve spent years feeling unable to say anything like that for fear of seeming argumentative – but now I feel like I can take ownership of what I need to thrive, and tell people what won’t work for me,” Wood told Harper’s Bazaar. “When I spoke up, all I could see was Angelina giving me a thumbs up.”
Wood, a rising star, admires Jolie’s down-to-earth nature despite her long and successful career. She described Jolie as “possibly the most famous woman ever, but she’s so normal.”
Aimee Lou Wood values Angelina Jolie’s humble support and grounded leadership, finding strength to assert her needs on set thanks to Jolie’s quiet encouragement.
