Hilary Duff's Biggest Lizzie McGuire Revelations on Therapuss Podcast

Hilary Duff reflected on her Disney Channel years and shared insights about her iconic role as Lizzie McGuire during a recent appearance on the “Therapuss” podcast hosted by Jake Shane.

Revisiting the Lizzie McGuire Era

Appearing on the show on November 5 to promote her new single “Mature,” Duff, 38, reminisced about her time on Lizzie McGuire, which aired from 2001 to 2004.

“I loved it. I had the best time,” she recalled.

According to Duff, the series “broke all of their records” on Disney Channel and influenced how future shows on the network were produced.

Inside the Disney Channel Formula

“It was complicated for me to understand at the time, but there was a formula for Disney Channel shows,” Duff explained. “They just ordered a certain amount of episodes, and that was what they did for their shows. They spent this amount of money, had this number of episodes, and stuck to that formula.”

She noted that one year they filmed about 30 episodes, and the following year even more — around 35. The studio’s approach, while efficient, left limited flexibility for creativity or extended storytelling.

Lizzie and Gordo's Future

“I don’t think Lizzie and Gordo had a thing post-show,” Duff admitted. “Maybe they had an almost thing. In my mind, I like to think she finally had a thing with Ethan Craft [Clayton Snyder]. Gordo is still always there to pick up her pieces.”

Reflecting on Growth

While speaking with Shane, Duff also discussed how much both she and her character grew through the years, expressing gratitude for the impact the show had on her life and fans who continue to cherish Lizzie’s story.
