Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts.
To recognize the sacrifices of armed forces members, Edinburgh Trams will offer free travel on both days for veterans and active personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Eligible passengers only need to show military ID or wear their uniform to use this offer.
Before the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be at Haymarket tram stop to sell poppies for those wishing to support the cause. Additionally, poppies will be displayed in tram windows as a mark of respect.
Where it is safe to do so, tram services will pause at 11am for a two-minute silence to reflect on the sacrifices made.
Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, said: “Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and with several colleagues who are ex-service men and women, we are dedicated to honoring those who have given their lives serving our country.”
Summary: Edinburgh Trams honors Remembrance Day by offering free travel to military personnel, hosting poppy sales, and observing a two-minute silence to remember fallen servicemen and women.
