This chaotic film by indie director Lynne Ramsay stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson as struggling new parents who clash violently.
The opening scene of “Die My Love” sets a chilling tone, almost fit for a horror movie. The camera quietly watches a secluded ranch kitchen while the couple, Grace and Jackson (Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson), hesitates before entering their inherited home.
“It’s not New York but it’s ours,” Jackson says about the rural house left to him after his uncle's violent death upstairs, a detail Grace oddly finds amusing.
Jackson, who grew up nearby, has family still living in the area—his parents Pam and Harry (Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte). Neither he nor Grace shares much about their city pasts, but Jackson longs to pursue drumming while Grace once claimed to be a writer. Their ambitions seem stalled, whether from lack of funds, passion, or talent.
After moving into the house and having a baby, the couple's life spirals into domestic turmoil, marked by tension and conflict.
Jennifer Lawrence delivers a fierce and raw performance in a film that vividly explores the struggles of new parenthood and fractured dreams but leaves key emotional threads unresolved.
