Surrey Honours Veterans With Remembrance Day Ceremonies Citywide
On Tuesday, November 11, Surrey will hold several events to honour the service, bravery, and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans in observance of Remembrance Day.
Mayor's Message
“Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on the steadfast dedication of Canada’s veterans and those who continue to serve,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy and the communities we build. I encourage everyone to take a moment during Veterans Week and on Remembrance Day to reflect and express appreciation for the commitment and courage of our veterans and service members.”
Event Details and Recommendations
- The largest ceremony is expected at Veterans Square in Cloverdale, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch.
- The ceremony at Veterans Square will be livestreamed on the City of Surrey's Facebook page.
- The Museum of Surrey (17710 56A Ave.) will be open to visitors until 1 p.m.
- At Surrey Centre Cemetery, visitors can place carnations at veteran memorials starting at 10:45 a.m.
- The City offers a new searchable online map to help locate veterans or loved ones interred in City-operated cemeteries.
- Attendees are encouraged to arrive early or use alternative transport such as biking or transit due to limited parking.
