Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honor veterans and active military personnel by offering free transit on Tuesday, November 11, in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
Eligible Customers for Free Transit
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
These individuals can access free transit by presenting their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by appearing in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and other eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips.
- An accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
- Holiday fares apply for other customers on November 11.
Additional Observances
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring the sacrifices and contributions of Indigenous veterans to peace and security globally.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
